Gentner, Florence. [1] (Count Alessandro Contini Bonacossi [1878-1955] Rome-Florence); sold to Samuel H. Kress [1863-1955] on 1 September 1939; gift 1961 to Georgia Museum of Art, University of Georgia, Athens, R-6. [1] This may be Philip J. Gentner, first director of the Worcester Art Museum. After leaving this post in 1917, Gentner returned to Florence where he had spent several years prior to taking the position in Worcester, apparently buying for Boston collectors.
